Get your Sprinkles on...

Hey kids!  Cindy back on the SBC blog with you today to share a recipe on this Simply Homemade Saturday.  We are making some fun cookies with sprinkles mixed right in the dough :-)

TiP:  Double this recipe.  They are that good.  You won't be sorry....LOL!

Okay, grab your baking supplies and let's get our sprinkle on :-)  You can change this up depending on what holiday you're celebrating.  I've got an Easter/Spring mix of sprinkles going on today.

Here is the recipe from The Baker Upstairs.

Soft Funfetti Sugar Cookies

1/2 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 cup sprinkles

Preheat oven to 350. Line a baking sheet with parchment or a silicone baking mat. In a large bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla until well blended. Add flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, and cream of tartar, and mix until a dough forms. Fold in sprinkles until well distributed. Shape into 12 equal sized balls. If your dough is fairly soft, I would recommend chilling it at this point for about 30 minutes. If your dough is thick (like mine was), bake in the preheated oven for exactly 8 minutes. Remove and let cool 5-10 minutes on the baking sheet before removing to a cooling rack. The cookies will look very soft and undercooked when you pull them out, but they will cook more as they cool on the pan. Enjoy!

On a side note I did bake mine a few minutes longer but that might just be my oven :-)

Thanks for joining us on the SBC blog today.  If you have any questions feel free to leave them in the comments section.  Don't forget to visit SBC on facebook where there is always something fun going on.

I hope you have a blest day!

Building Block Graduation Card

Hello, everyone! Melissa here on to share a "building block" style card with you. I made this one graduation themed, since there are a ton of graduations going on right now. Hope you enjoy this card, and are inspired to try it out yourself. Here is the tutorial I followed from Split Coast Stampers. To make it easier, I will give you all the measurements, here. It looks harder than it is, I promise. Start with a piece of cardstock in your desired color that is 5.5 x 10.5. Put the 10.5 inch side along the top of your score board or paper trimmer, and score at 3.5 inches and 7 inches. Fold the first score line in a mountain fold, and the second in a valley fold. You should end up with a "z" fold card. The next part can get a bit tricky, so make sure you watch the video to fully understand what I am about to explain. On the back side of the "valley" fold, take a ruler and pencil and mark these measurements: 3/8 1 3/8 1 5/8 2 5/8 2 7/8 3 7/8
