Hi everyone, today is our YEAR OF CARD TECHNIQUES BLOG HOP. So for February, we are talking sketches. Card sketches are great to use when you are not quite sure what card design you want to do. You can find them all over online for free just by using your search engine.
If you want to start at them beginning, hop over to our hostess blog: Theresa at Scraps by Gracie. There will be a prize if you comment and subscribe to the blog in this hop.
Our blog hop inspiration card sketch on the one on the right and the cards that I complete are below....
1) I used premade die cuts for this party card. After I placed the images where I wanted them following the sketch, I used a Black felt tip pen and outline the images in the black, adding thicker lines to one side for more dimension. This is a great technique to have your images pop from the paper.
2) I used an embossing plate to give this card a little more dimension. This is great when you are using plain or shimmer card stock like I did. I also used premade 3d stickers for cards and 3 different washi tapes that I put on white cardstock for my banner. The sentiment, I wrote.
4) This card is the one where I turned the sketch onto its side and did a vertical banner. The image is Newton's Nook Woodland Duos that I colored with my Spectrum Noir Illustrators and I fussy cut the heart shape around the image.
4) For my last card, I did the same sketch but this time, I did a clean and simple card with a hand drawn border. I felt the card needed the border to bring it together with the image.
The cute foxes are from the Woodland Dues Stamps set also.
So as you can see, the cards are not exactly the same as the sketch using flowers like you saw, But I used the sketch for inspiration on the placement of my images.
Hope you are enjoying the hop!

ReplyDeleteReally cute cards, especially those foxes. Thank you for the tip about putting lines around pre-made cuts. It made them pop.
ReplyDeleteSandy you created a beautiful variety of cards and I love how you interpreted the sketch. Wonderful examples that show so nicely how one sketch can turn into so many cute cards. Thanks for hopping and I am looking forward to next month
ReplyDeleteAll beautifully interesting cards. I love how you played with the sketch and made it your own. Nice hopping with you this month.
ReplyDeleteGreat cards! Love how you changed the sketch a bit for each creative card.
ReplyDeleteSandy, I love your tip about outlining in black, a little heavier on one side. I'll have to try that, for sure! And I'm so impressed by your border on the little fox card. I'd never have the courage to try doodling! You're absolutely right, it pulls that card together beautifully. Thanks so much for sharing.
