Cricut Flower Cards- MCCR

HI friends!  I wanted to share with you how I make my own shape cards using my gypsy and Cricut but you can use the Cricut Craft Room to get the same results...  Let's get started!

Using Songbird cart, I picked out this pretty flower
  • first on this cartridge the flowers are lettered so I had to remove the letter "x" for this blossom by using the hide feature
  • next I set my size at 3.5" for my flower and copied 2 on the gypsy
  • third, I flipped the blossoms and butted them up against each other at the top
  • fourthly, I welded the two together so then cut as one image
  • lastly, I cut another blossom at 3.5" in pattern paper.

  • here you can see the flower welded together and folded to make my card base. Note that when you fold it, you lose the point of the blossom

  •  I cut the top of blossom from the stem on the pattern paper, this is going to be the front of my blossom

  • using my color pencils and a flat embellishment, I finished off the details for my card

  •  My final card...

Next, here is a card from the Wild Card cartridge ( this is still one of my favorites).  This card and all the layers that go with it are set to cut proportionally (make sure that you real dial size is OFF).

  • I cut this card base and all layers at 5" from white card stock.
  • The layers for this card... base, flower layer, leaves, leaf liner, sentiments( all cut leaving my size at 5", meaning my leaves actually cut at 2" but are proportional to my 5" blossom)

  •  Here is the inside of the card using the leaf liner and sentiment.
  • Used color pencils to outline my leaves

  • Here is my final card, used a button for the flower center and my color pencil to give it some depth

So there you have them, let me know if you have any questions with welding, flipping or any other Cricut card questions!

Hope you have a blessed day and thanks for stopping by,

  1. Beautiful cards, Sandy! Can I weld on my E2 or do you need a gypsy for that?...Nancy :o)

  2. Thanks Nancy.

The Cricut Expression 2 does NOT weld on its own. You can use the “Cricut Craft Room” online go to www.Cricut.com, click on Craft Room at the top and download. This is a free software program. You will be able to get more out of you catridges.

You can weld shapes and letters from cartridges in that and use your Expression through that. The Gypsy is great, but its not required for welding if that is all you are looking for.

I like my Gypsy because I like to not be tied to my computer. But everything you can do on the Gypsy, you can do on the CCR from you laptop.

My Cricut Craft Room (http://mycricutcraftroom.blogspot.com/) has video tutorials on using the CCR.

Let me know if this helps :)

Building Block Graduation Card

Hello, everyone! Melissa here on to share a "building block" style card with you. I made this one graduation themed, since there are a ton of graduations going on right now. Hope you enjoy this card, and are inspired to try it out yourself. Here is the tutorial I followed from Split Coast Stampers. To make it easier, I will give you all the measurements, here. It looks harder than it is, I promise. Start with a piece of cardstock in your desired color that is 5.5 x 10.5. Put the 10.5 inch side along the top of your score board or paper trimmer, and score at 3.5 inches and 7 inches. Fold the first score line in a mountain fold, and the second in a valley fold. You should end up with a "z" fold card. The next part can get a bit tricky, so make sure you watch the video to fully understand what I am about to explain. On the back side of the "valley" fold, take a ruler and pencil and mark these measurements: 3/8 1 3/8 1 5/8 2 5/8 2 7/8 3 7/8 ...
